Renewable Energy in the State of Hawaii

The State of Hawaii has established clean energy goals consisting of 100% renewable energy by 2045, and 4,300 GWh reduction in electricity use by 2030 (equal to about 40% of 2007 electricity)

In some cases, there is more renewable energy resource and development on certain islands than there is electric load.

There is a proposal to interconnect the islands with subsea electric cables, to help transmit/distribute the renewable energy to load centers, and increase the reliability of the grid.
